The DeKalb County High School Tigerettes played in a tournament at Creek Park in Cookeville on Saturday where the ladies went 4-0 with three of the games being shutouts.
In the first game, the Tigerettes defeated East Hamilton 2-0. They scored a run in the third and fourth innings. DeKalb County scored two runs on three hits and made three errors. East Hamilton was held scoreless on two hits and made two errors. Kayley Caplinger, the winning pitcher, struck out 10.
In the second game, DeKalb County defeated Notre Dame 13-0. The Tigerettes scored 13 runs on 11 hits and made no errors. Notre Dame was held scoreless and hitless. And committed two errors.
DeKalb County beat Farragut in the third game, 5 to 0. The Tigerettes scored four runs in the first inning and one run in the second inning. DeKalb County scored five runs on seven hits and made one error. Farragut was held scoreless on two hits and made one error. Kayley Caplinger was the winning pitcher.
In the final game, DeKalb County defeated Westmoreland 11 to 6. The Tigerettes scored two runs in the first and second innings and seven runs in the third inning. Westmoreland scored two runs in the first inning and four runs in the second inning. DeKalb County scored 11 runs on nine hits and made five errors while Westmoreland scored siz runs on four hits and made five errors. Kayley Caplinger was the winning pitcher.
The Tigerettes host Central Magnet today, March 22, and are set to host Cookeville March 23, weather permitting. Games begin at 4:30 and 5 p.m. respectively.
