Close scores in Major League games

The DeKalb County Youth Baseball Major League dodged some wet fields last week to get a few games on the books. The games were low-scoring matches with some exciting action.
On June 2, Liberty Machine took on Rice’s Tigers in a game that looked to be an easy win for the Tigers. But Liberty made things interesting in the final inning.
The Tigers took the lead in the first inning with Nixon Murphy and Kobie Snipes each coming in with a run. Brayden Antoniak touched home in the second inning, while Garrett Driver topped off the score in the third, giving the Tigers a 4-0 lead.
But Liberty came back and got on the board in the fourth, with Blake Bunten and Bryston Smith each coming in with a run. They would pull close, but it would not be enough. The Tigers held on to win, 4-2.
Webbs battled Curtis Supply that same day in a game that would be decided by one point.
For Webbs, Jordan Crook, Logan Johnson, Levi Cantrell, Brayden Tubbs, and Preston Ray each came away with a run in the first inning. Crook touched home plate two more times in the game, once in the second inning, and again in the fourth.
Jacob Johnson and Malachi Hall each scored in the first inning for Curtis, while Elija Hall, Dillon Knowles, and Grant Curtis each crossed home in the third. Malachi Hall added another run in the fourth, but it was not enough. Webbs tool the win, 7-6.
On June 6, Curtis Supply was back on the field, this time against Rice’s Tigers in another close game.
The Tigers got on the board first with Nixon Murphy coming home in the first inning, but Curtis tied it up in the second, with Elija Hall getting a run. Aiden Curtis, Malachi Hall, and Holden Hendrix gave Curtis the lead in the third when they came in with runs.
Curtis Supply held on to get the 4-2 win.
Webbs faced off with Liberty Machine that same day, but Liberty would have an easy win.
For Webbs, Jordan Crook scored in the first inning, then Braxton Hutchins came in during the third.
Joey Burgess, Creston Bain, and Cody Antoniak each scored for Liberty in the first inning, and joined Bryston Smith and Joseph Osment for runs in the second. Antoniak came in with an insurance run in the fourth, giving Liberty the 9-2 win.
