Dawgs battles in Trousdale

The DeKalb West School basketball teams were on the road last week, playing a couple regular season games, before moving on to some tournament action. They would have a tough night on the road in Hartsville.

On Monday, December 16, the Lady Bulldogs faced off against Satterfield Middle School in what would be a rough game. DWS would score one point, a free throw by Katelyn Fry, while Satterfield put 10 on the board.

Fry would sink a two-pointers for the Lady Bulldogs in the second period, but Satterfield would push on with seven, taking a 17-3 halftime lead.

The very you Lady Bulldogs were held scoreless in the third period, while Satterfield continued with 12 more points. They were up 29-3.

Kaylie Womack hit a three-pointer for DeKalb in the fourth, while Fry added another two-point basket. Satterfield would seal things up with two more points, taking the 31-8 win.

The Bulldogs would have a closer game, but would let it slip away in the third. Levi Cripps hit on four two-pointers for DeKalb in the first period, while Satterfield took the lead with 12.

Cripps sank a two and a three-pointer for the Bulldogs in the second, while Maddux Pyburn hit a three-point basket and a free throw. Landon Holmes and Lucas Nokes each added a two-point shot of their own. Satterfield was held to four, giving DWS the 21-16 lead at the half.

Aiden Garza sank a pair of two-point baskets for the Bulldogs in the third, but Satterfield would come to life scoring 18. Hartsville claimed a 34-25 lead.

Cripps and Holmes would each sink a three-point shot in the fourth, but that would be all the Bulldogs would see. Satterfield scored eight and claimed the 42-32 win.

On Thursday, the Bulldogs were back in action, this time taking on Defeated at the Smith County Christmas Tournament.

DWS scored 11 in the first period, with Levi Cripps sinking a couple of two-point shots and a three-pointer, while Landon Holmes hit a pair of two-pointers. Defeated steamrolled out with 23 points.

The Bulldogs scored 14 in the second period, with Maddux Pyburn hitting a pair of threes, Cripps with one three-pointer, and Holmes and Edgar Garza each with a two-point basket. Lucas Nokes had a free throw point. Defeated was held to 11 but still held a 34-25 halftime lead.

Holmes had three two-pointers and a free throw, while Cripps sank a three-pointer. Nokes and Bentley Watley each had a two-point shot. Defeated came away with 16 and the 50-38 lead.

Cripps hit a two and a three-pointer for the Bulldogs in the fourth, while Holmes added a three-pointer. It would not be enough. Defeated scored eight and claimed the 58-45 win.
