DCHS splits frozen Friday
DeKalb vs White County Madison Parsley
DCHS Lady Tiger Madison Parsley fights a tough White County defense Friday night as DeKalb played host to White County.

Although school was called due to the freezing winter weather, the DCHS Tigers and Lady Tigers braved the cold to play host to White County Friday. While the Lady Tigers fell to the Warriorettes, the Tigers defeated White County for the win.

White County Warriorettes 63
DeKalb County Lady Tigers 36

The Lady Tigers and the Warriorettes both got off to a slow start with DeKalb trailing 25-19 at the break in a close matchup.
The Lady Tigers outside game was working well in the first half with both Lydia Brown and Emme Colwell both hitting for 6 points from behind the line. DeKalb was generous with the opportunities from the foul line for Sparta however, giving them 11 first-half points from the charity stripe. Warriorette Hannah Leftwich didn’t miss from the line and scored a game-high 17 points in the contest, proving to be a thorn in the side of DeKalb yet again this year.
“She (Leftwich) is a very good player, she’s hard to handle for a man to be honest with you,” said DCHS Lady Tiger head coach Danny Fish. “We didn’t handle the pressure, we handled it well in the first half but in the second we pounded OK but we weren’t able to get scores out of it. It’s kind of a tale of two halves. They have a great team and program and that’s what we’re aspiring to be and just came up a little bit short tonight.”
The second half was all White County as they heated up the floor by working inside and distributing the basketball well with nine players posting points and again were effective from the line adding 8 more points giving them 19 points from penalty shooting. The Lady Tigers earned 11 points total from the charity stripe.
Brown was DeKalb’s points leader with 12 total followed closely by Colwell who hit for 11 points.
Rounding out the total tally for the Lady Tigers were Madison Parsley with 6 points, Megan Walker, Kenzie France and Gracie Griffin were all good for 2-points each and Mya Ruch hit for 1 point from the foul line.

The Tigers showed they know how to finish a ballgame Friday, playing tough all four quarters to secure a hard-fought win over White County made all the sweeter as it took place in front of the home crowd.
Playing an all-around top-notch game, DeKalb’s Colter Norris and Noah Martin had the outside game sewed up with 15 and 9 points respectively from outside the arc.

Trey Jones worked inside the paint like Picasso driving for 18 total games leading the Tiger scoring.
It wasn’t a cakewalk either as Warrior Grant Slatton scored a game-high 30 points in the game for White County who were a tough opponent to gun down.
