The DeKalb County High School Tigers baseball team managed to dodge the rainy weather long enough to get in one game last week. While their scheduled game against Watertown was canceled, the team played the Gordonsville Tigers on Friday.
Gordonsville would take the early lead, scoring one run at the top of the first. The action wouldn’t resume until the top of the fourth, when Gordonsville scored two more runs.
DeKalb didn’t get on the scoreboard until the bottom of the fifth, after walks by Dallas Kirby and Tucker Webb. Evan Prichard would go down swinging, and Luke Johnson was out looking, but Dallas Kirby would steal home on a wild pitch as Preston Taylor was up to bat. Taylor would also go down swinging, but DeKalb was on the board, 3-1.
Unfortunately, that would be as far as they would get. Gordonsville scored another run at the top pf the sixth, and two more at the top of the seventh. The Gordonsville Tigers would take the 6-1 win over DeKalb.
