DeKalb Minor League action underway

DeKalb Youth League baseball is underway with several games already in the books. In Minor League action, Liberty State Bank came away with the most wins over the past couple of weeks.
On May 13, LSB faced Vickers in a close game. Liberty struck first, with Brandon Antoniak, Jordan Young, Lucas Hall, and Isaac Knowles each coming in with runs in the first inning, and Antoniak touching home again in the second. Jase Bain and Kobbie Clary tacked on two more in the third inning, but Vickers also got on the board with Logan O’Conners and Justin Boren getting runs.
Young would top off LSB’s score in the fourth, but Vickers made things interesting in the fifth, with Gage Trapp, J.J. Pack, O’Conner, and Boren each getting runs. In the end, it would be Liberty State Bank on top, getting the 8-6 win.
Los Lobos took on Robert’s Ice, with Robert’s Ice getting a decisive victory.
Robert’s Ice’s Kolter Kilgore, Konner Young, Matt Rowe, and Elijah Ramos each scored in the first inning, while Mason Winter and Riley Palmer touched home in the second.
Los Lobos got on the board in the third inning, with Jathan Willoughby, Silas Cross, and David Judkins getting runs. But that would be their only points in the game.
Robert’s added insurance to their score in the fourth with Kilgore, Axel Aldino, Young, Saxson Bain, and Rowe coming home. They would get a big win, 11-3.
Vickers played another close game, this time coming out on top in a game against Los Lobos.
Los Lobos opened up the scoring with David Judkins getting a run in the first inning. Ty Panker, Jathan Willoughby and Chandler Johnson scored in the third, but so did Gage Trapp, Avery South, Evan Sprague, and Logan O’Conner for Vickers. The game was tied four all.
Josh Moon and Caden Kyle each touched home in the fourth for Los Lobos, but Trapp, Diego Coronado, and Isaac Newport scored that same inning, sealing the win for Vickers 7-6.
It was the battle of the banks when Liberty State Bank faced off with DeKalb Community Bank in what would be a lop-sided win for LSB.
LSB started off their scoring drive in the first inning and never looked back. Levi Driver, Jordan Young, Brayden Antoniak, and Lucas Hale each scored, while Young, Antoniak, Hale, and Kobbie Clary came in during the second. Driver had a run in the third, and again in the fourth along with Young, Antoniak, Isaac Knowles, and Aiden Ramirez.
DeKalb Community Bank’s one and only run came from Andrew Vickers in the first inning. LSB took the 14-1 win.
On May 17, Liberty State Bank was back in action, this time against Robert’s Ice. The game would be a low-scoring defensive battle, but LSB would get the win.
LSB took the lead in the first inning with a run by Jordan Young. Isaac Knowles added to the score in the fourth, giving the team a 2-0 lead. But Robert’s Ice made a game of it in the sixth with Kolter Kilgore touching home. LSB would hold on for the 2-1 win.
That same day, Vickers battled with DeKalb Community Bank, with Vickers showing some muscle. Gage Trapp, J.J. Pack, Avery South, Evan Sprague, and Isaac Newport each got a run in the first inning for Vickers, but so did Andrew Vickers and Conner Crabtree for DCB.
Trapp, Sprague, and Newport scored again in the second inning for Vickers, while Pack and Holden Trapp came in during the third. Dillon Trapp scored in the third for DCB, with Vickers, Grayson Hendrix, and Pete Hallum scoring in the fourth.
Trapp, Pack, South, and Sprague sealed the win for Vickers with runs in the fifth, giving them a 14-6 victory.
DCB took on Los Lobos in a close one-point game.
DCB took a slim lead in the first inning, with Dylan Trapp and Grayson Hendrix each getting runs. Jathan Willoughby scored for Los Lobos, keeping them within striking distance.
Los Lobos pulled ahead in the second, with Ty Panker, Josh Moon, and Brett Walker each crossing home base, and Jaden Johnson scoring in the third. Matthew Vickers scored for DCB in the fourth, but Willoughby matched the run for Los Lobos the same inning.
It was in the fifth that DCB managed to retake the lead. Hendrix, Conner Crabtree, Wesley Hallium, and Landon Cripps each came in with runs, and the 7-6 victory.
On May 20, Vickers met Robert’s Ice in a tough match.
Gage Trapp gave Vickers the lead in the first inning, with Isaac Newport adding to the score in the second.
Axel Aldino got Robert’s Ice on the board in the second inning, while Mason Winter came in with another run in the second.
