Old Man Winter may be out in full force but that isn’t stopping the DeKalb County Tennessee Youth Baseball League from preparing for its upcoming season. The league has reorganized with new leadership, and is setting up for sign-ups starting this weekend.
The league’s new officers start with President Justin Brooks, who is replacing former president Casey Midgett who stepped down from the position.
In a statement, the board said, “We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Casy Midgett for his dedicated service as League President of DeKalb County Youth Baseball. Casey’s unwavering commitment and countless hours devoted to providing opportunities for the youth in our community to participate in baseball have left a lasting impact. We also express gratitude to the Midgett family for their steadfast support throughout Casey’s tenure.”
“As we usher in a new chapter, DeKalb County Youth Baseball welcomes a fresh team of board members and leaders, all united by a singular goal – to offer every child the best possible experience in the game we all cherish while providing them with a facility to be proud of. Our vision is to create an environment where families can discover the joy of spending time at the ballfield.
Joining Brooks on the board are Vice President Jesse Sutton, Treasurers Casey Midgett and Louis Richards, Player Agent Director John Duke, Safety Officer James Cornelius, Director of Field Maintenance Brandon Puckett, Secretary Bill Starkey, and Umpire In-Charge Allan Wilkins.
Sign-ups for DeKalb Youth Baseball will be held at the Northside Elementary School gym on Saturday, January 27, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, February 3, 10, and 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The baseball season will begin in April.
