The DeKalb Middle School Lady Saints were in action last week, taking on some tough teams.

On Friday, November 1, the girls were on their home court as they welcomed Cumberland County. DMS would take the lead early and never look back.

Emmaline Hendrix, Taylynn Taylor and Hannah Tobitt each sank a two-pointer for the Lady Saints in the first period while Cumberland was held to just four points.

DMS did better in the second, adding eight points to the board. Taylor had a two and a free throw, Aubree Fuson and Paizlee Taylor a two-pointer, and Zoie Ashburn a free throw. Cumberland was held to five points giving DMS the 14-9 halftime lead.

The Lady Saints stepped up in the third period scoring nine more points. Hendrix and Taylynn Taylor each had a two, while Fuson added a two-pointer and three free throws. Cumberland also added nine points, staying close, 23-18.

Taylynn Taylor and Fuson were on fire in the fourth. Taylor scored on four two-point baskets, while Fuson had two. Ashburn also added a two-point shot. Cumberland was held to five, giving DMS the 37-23 victory.

On November 5, the Lady Saints were on their home court, this time hosting Smith County. The home team would dominate.

DMS scored 12 points in the first period, with three two-pointer and a free throw by Taylynn Taylor, a two and a free throw by Tobitt, and a two-pointer by Ashburn. Smith was held to just two points.

The Lady Saints added 17 to the board in the second period, with Taylynn Taylor hitting three two-pointers and a pair of free throws, while Hendrix had a couple of two-point baskets and a free-throw point. Tobitt and Fuson also had a two-point shot. Smith was held to six, giving DMS the 29-8 lead at the half.

Taylynn Taylor sank a two-point shot for DMS in the third, while Fuson added a couple of free throws. Smith scored five, but the Lady Saints were still on top, 33-13.

The Lady Saints padded the scoreboard in the fourth period with 12 more points. Hailey Moore had a two and a pair of free throws, Fuson three two-pointer, and Mekazya Waggoner a two-point basket. Smith was held scoreless, giving DeKalb the 45-13 victory.

The Saints were also in action last week, recording some big wins. On November 4, the Saints traveled to the far away land of Livingston where they would dominate.

The Saints scored 15 points in the first period, with Hayden Quarles sinking a pair of two-pointers and a three-pointer, Auston Parker with a couple of two-point baskets, Gavin Frazier with a two-point shot, and Reed Midgett with a free throw. Livingston put 11 on the board.

DMS continued to roll in the second, with 16 more points. Parker and Midgett each had three two-pointers, while Frazier and Skylar Herriott each had one two-pointer. Livingston was held off the board, giving the Saints a 31-11 lead at the half.

Midgett and Frazier each had a pair of twos, while Parker, Quarles, and Herriott each had one. Keegan Taylor had a two-pointer and a free throw. Livingston only scored four. DMS was up 48-15.

The Saints ended the game with 11 more points. Herriott added a couple of two-pointers and a three, while Brantley Brooks and Sam Tobitt each had a two-pointer. Livingston scored four, giving DeKalb the 59-19 win.

On November 5, the Saints were back in front of the hometown crowd, where they took on Smith County.

The Saints jumped out big in the first with Midgett hitting three two-pointers and a free throw, Quarles with a two and three-pointer, and Parker and Herriott each with a pair of two-point baskets. Smith was held to just three points.

DMS kept moving in the second with 18 more points. Quarles sank a three-pointer and a pair of twos, while Frazier had three two-pointers. Herriott and Brooks each had a two-point shot. Smith added five points, giving the Saints a 42-8 halftime lead.

The Saints piled on in the third. Parker and Tobitt each had a three-pointer, while Midgett, Frazier, Herriott, and Logan Gard each had a two-pointer. Elijah Mills had a two and a free throw. Smith added six points. The Saints were up, 59-14.

The Saints added six points to the tally in the fourth. Herriott added a two-pointer, while Brooks and Mills each had a pair of free throws. Smith scored five, giving DMS the 65-19 victory.
