The DeKalb Middle School Saints and Lady Saints were back on the court last week, on the road for one night, while playing at home for two more.

On Monday, November 9, DMS was on the road, traveling to border rival Cannon County in Woodbury. In the girls' game it would turn out to be a nail-biter. 

The Lady Saints would come away with six points in the first quarter, with a three-pointer by Dare Collins, two free throw points by Avery Agee, and one free throw point by Chloe VanVraken. Cannon would stay right with them, getting six points of their own off of two-pointers by Abilynn Teter, Addie King, and Braelyn Teachout.

Agee scored seven points for DMS in the second quarter, with a pair of two-point baskets and three points from free throws. Cannon County pulled ahead with nine points, with Teter getting a pair of two-pointers and a free throw, and Lakelyn Kilpatrick and King each getting two free throw points. Cannon was up 15-13 at the half.

DMS opened things up in the third quarter, with Bella Dakas getting a three-pointer and two free throws, Agee a three and two-pointer, and Collins a three-pointer and a free throw. Cannon was held to seven points, with King with a two-point basket and a free throw, Teter a two-pointer, and Addison Nichols with two free throw points. The Lady Saints took the lead, 27-22. 

Dakas and Agee each had a two-pointer in the fourth quarter, but Cannon caught fire. King had a three and two-point shot, while Nichols had a pair of two-point baskets and a free throw. It all came down to just one point. Cannon squeaked by with the 32-31 win. 

The Saints' game would also be close, with Jordan Parker getting a three-point basket, and Dallas Kirby and Owen Snipes each getting a two-pointer in the first quarter. Cannon would get five, with Pelham getting a three-point shot and Jones a two-pointer.

Snipes would get the only points for the Saints in the second quarter, with a two-point basket. Cannon would pull away with eight points, a three-pointer by Phillips, two-pointers by Hanes and Jones, and a free throw by Bane. Cannon took the lead, 13-10. 

Kirby had a three-pointer in the third quarter, while Snipes added two free throw points for the Saints. Cannon had nine points, with three two-pointers by Jones, one by Johnson, and a free throw by Pelham. Cannon's lead increased, 22-15.

The Saints had eight points in the fourth quarter, with a three-pointer by Parker, a two-point shot by Ian Barnes, and three free throw points by Kirby. Cannon got eight points of their own, with a two-pointer and free throw point by both Pelham and Jones, and a two-pointer by Phillips. Cannon took the 30-23 win. 

The next day the teams were back in action, this time at home against some tough Baxter teams. 

The Lady Saints would start their game with only three points in the first quarter, coming from two free throw points by Agee and one by Dakas. Baxter would get nine, with a three-pointer by Gracie Butler, and two-pointers by Meiah Moss, Ella Harvel, and Auburn Johnson.

DMS came away with six points in the second quarter, with Larissa Mooneyham getting a two-pointer and a free throw, Agee getting two free throws, and VanVraken getting one. Baxter got 12 points. Butler had a three-pointer, Addison McElhaney had a two-point shot and two free throws, Ava Allen and Johnson each had a two-pointer, and Addy Roberts had a free throw. Baxter took the 21-9 lead. 

Collins had a three and two-point basket in the third quarter, with VanVraken getting a three-pointer, and Agee getting a two-point shot. Baxter added nine more, with two-pointers by Butler, Harvel, and McElhaney, two free throws by Johnson, and one free throw by Roberts. Baxter's lead grew, 30-19. 

The Lady Saints only managed four points in the fourth quarter, three free throw points by VanVraken and one by Collins. Baxter padded their lead with 19. A pair of three-point shots by Cyanna Nash, three two-point shots by Harvell, a three-pointer by Moss, and two-point shots by Butler and McElhaney. Baxter took the 49-23 victory. 

The Saints game would be just as tough. Snipes and Cody Love each had two-point baskets in the first quarter for DMS, but Baxter put up 15, with a three-pointer by Carmine Phillips, a pair of two-pointers by Ty Cobb and Evan Huddleston, and two-point shots by Dawson Harris and Rookie Allison. 

Maddox Hale had a three-point shot for DMS in the second quarter, but Baxter added eight more. Two more two-pointers by Cobb, three free throws by Harris, and one free throw by Evan Elrod. Baxter was up 23-7.

DMS had five points in the third quarter, with a three-pointer by Parker and a two-point shot by Kirby. Baxter added six points with a two-pointer and two free throws by Bronzden Chaffin, and one free throw each by Huddleston and Elrod. Baxter lead grew, 29-12.

The Siants would only manage six more points in the fourth. A three and two-pointer by Barnes, and a free throw by Love. Baxter would seal their win with two-pointers by Allison, Chaffin, and Brodie Allen. Baxter took the 35-18 win. 

On Thursday, November 12, the teams were back at home, this time facing off with teams from Hillham.

In the girls' game, the Lady Saints had a slow start, but began pulling closer towards the end of the game. DMS was held scoreless in the first quarter, while Hillham came away with seven points. Keelie Mullins had a pair of two-point shots, while Leah Cross had one. Emma Stower had a free throw.

The Lady Saints finally got things going in the second quarter, with three-point baskets by VanVraken and Agee. Hillham tacked on 12 more, with a two-point shot and three free throws by Mullins, two two-pointers and two free throws by Stower, and  free throw by Cross. Hillham was up at the half, 19-6.

Collins had a two-point shot for the Lady Saints in the third, with Agee adding two free throw points. Hillham added five with a three-point shot by Myla Dailey, and a two-pointer by Jaycee Collins. Hillham was up, 24-10.

The Lady Saints caught fire in the fourth, with two three-point shots and a free throw by Agee, a pair of two-pointers by Collins, a two-pointer and a free throw by VanVraken, and a three-point shot by Dakas. It would not be enough as Hillham added 11 points. Stower had a three-point basket, two two-pointers, and a free throw, Collins had two free throw points, and Dailey had one. Hillham claimed the 35-27 win 

The Saints would have a much better night. DMS put up 16 points in the first quarter, with Love getting two three-point shots and a two-pointer, Snipes a two-pointer and two free throw points, and Parker and Kirby each with a two-point basket. Hillham was held to eight points, with three two-pointers by Austin Hicks, and one by Joey Stansberry 

It was all Devin Fish for the Saints in the second quarter. He had three three-point baskets and two free throw points. Hillham was held to four with a three-pointer be Dalton Cummins, and a free throw by Evan Gentry. DMS was up 27-12 at the half.

The Saints were not finished as they put up 19 points in the third quarter. Love and Fish each had a three and two-point basket, while Jon Hendrix had a three-point shot. Parker, Kirby, and Snipes each had two-point baskets. Hillham was held to seven, with a pair of two-pointers by Cummins, and a three-point shot by Hicks.

Logan Duke had three two-point baskets for the Saints in the fourth quarter, while Kirby and Hale each had one. Hillham was held scoreless, giving the Saints the 56-19 victory.
