DMS

After taking a week off for Fall break, the DeKalb Middle School Saints and Lady Saints were back on the court last week, playing at home and on the road.

On Tuesday, October 25, the teams were on their home court where they hosted White County in their first conference game of the season. It would be a tough night for both teams.

The Lady Saints got off to a rough start in the first period, scoring only five points. Jordan Agee came away with a three-point basket while Lillie Young sank a two-pointer. White County took a huge lead with 21 points.

DMS did only slightly better in the second period, scoring seven points with another three-point shot by Agee, a two-pointer by Brooke Fuson, and a pair of free throws by Young. The Lady Warriors piled on the points with another 12, and a 33-12 lead at the half.

The Lady Saints only managed two points in the third period, with free throw shots by Maggie Hendrixson and Agee. White County added another 17 points to the board, taking a 50-14 lead.

Agee scored the only points for the Lady Saints in the fourth period, a three and two-point basket. White County padded their lead with nine, and claimed the 59-19 win.

Agee scored 12 points in the game for DMS, while Young had four, Fuson two, and Hendrixson one.

The Saints would have a much closer game, but would let White County get ahead in the second and would never be able to recover.

Both teams would come away with seven points in the first period. Ryan Lyons would get a two and three-point basket for the Saints with Kiece Hannah getting a two-pointer.

Hannah would sink a two-pointer for the Saints in the second period, but missed free throws would put them behind. Lyons missed four, while Hannah and Luke Johnson each missed one. The Warriors would come away with 12 points and a 19-9 halftime lead.

White County continued to pull away in the third period scoring 10 more points. Elliot Barnes was the only Saint to score with a three-point basket. The Warriors were up 29-12.

DMS finally got back on track in the fourth period. Lyons sank a three-pointer and a pair of free throws, while Hannah had a two-point shot and a couple of free throws. Anthony Moore had a two-point basket, and Barnes scored two points off of free throws. DeKalb scored 13 points, while White was held to five. But it was too little too late. The Warriors claimed the 35-25 win.

Lyons had 10 points in the game, Hannah eight, Barnes five, and Moore two.

On the following Thursday the teams were on the road, this time traveling to Smith County to face the Owls and Lady Owls. It would be a close game for the girls.

Jordyn Agee scored the only points for the Lady Saints in the first period, with a three-point basket. The Lady Owls came away with seven points and the early lead.

DMS matched Smith County point for point in the second period. Maggie Hendrixson had a three-point shot, while Lillie Young sank a two-pointer and Brooke Fuson had a free throw point. Smith County held a 13-9 lead at the half.

Young had a two-pointer and three free throws for the Lady Saints in the third, while Agee added a two-point basket. The Lady Owls added eight points, taking the 21-16 lead.

The Lady Saints came away with seven points in the fourth period. Agee had another three-point shot, while Young had a two-pointer and a pair of free throws. The Lady Owls were held to only four points but it would be enough for the 25-23 victory.

Young was the top scorer for the Lady Saints with 11 points. Agee had eight, Hendrixson three, and Fuson one.

The Saints would have a much tougher game. DMS scored five points in the first period, with Anthony Barnes scoring on a three-pointer, and Kiece Hannah getting a two-pointer. The Owls opened up with 16 points and a big lead.

It would be all Elliot Barnes for the Saints in the second period, with him sinking a two and three-point basket. The Owls would add 14 to the board, taking a 30-10 lead at the half.

The Saints had their best period in the third, scoring 13 points. Ryan Lyons had a two and three-pointer, while Barnes added a three-pointer of his own. Hannah had a pair of two-point shots and a free throw point. Smith County poured it on with 17 points and a 47-23 lead.
