The DeKalb West School basketball teams were back in action last week, going on the road for a couple of games, then ending the week at home.
On Monday, December 6, the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs were on the road taking on Tuckers Crossroads. The Lady Bulldogs would start things off, getting a big win.
The Lady Bulldogs scored seven points in the first period, with Abby Jo Crook and Sophie Desimone each getting a two-pointer, while Jordyn Agee had a pair of free throws and Millie Barton had one. Tuckers was held scoreless in the first period.
DWS scored 10 points in the second period, with Agee getting a three-point basket and a free throw, while Kenndi Prichard had a pair of two-point shots. Abby Jo Crook had a two-pointer. Tuckers finally got on the board with five, but the Lady Bulldogs had a 17-5 halftime lead.
Abby Jo Crook had a three-point basket for the Lady Bulldogs in the third period, while McKenna Miller and Agee each had a two-pointer. Tuckers was held to four, giving DeKalb a 24-9 lead.
Autumn Crook scored a pair of free throws for the Lady Bulldogs in the fourth, while Tuckers was held to six. DWS took the 26-15 win.
The Bulldogs would not be as fortunate, though they would keep the game close. The Bulldogs scored nine points in the first period, with Chase Young coming away with three two-point baskets and a couple of free throws, while Ethan Brown added a free throw point. Tuckers Crossroad would score 14.
DWS added nine more points in the second period. Conner Talley had a two-pointer, a three-pointer, and a pair of free throw baskets, while Brown added a two-pointer. Tuckers was held to six, but claimed a 20-18 halftime lead.
The Bulldogs scored five points in the third, with Young sinking a pair of free throws, and Ben Driver hitting a two-pointer and a free throw. Tuckers upped their game with 14 points and a 34-23 lead.
Nick Murphy had a three-point shot for the Bulldogs in the fourth period, while Young added another two-pointer. Driver had a pair of free throws, and Porter Hancock added one. Tuckers was held to six, but it was enough for the 40-31 win.
The following Thursday, the teams were back at home where they faced a very tough Cannon County team. The Lady Bulldogs would be held to just two points in the first period, with a pair of free throws by Jordyn Agee, while Cannon scored 13.
DWS added eight points to the board in the second period, with Agee sinking five free throws, and Sophie Desimone hitting a three-pointer. Cannon was held to eight, but commanded a 21-10 lead at the half.
Abby Jo Crook sank a two-pointer for DWS in the third, while Agee added a couple of free throws, and McKenna Miller and Autumn Crook each had one. Cannon opened up with 17 points and a 38-16 lead.
The Lady Bulldogs ended the game with eight points. Agee had a two-pointer and three free throw points, while Abby Jo Crook had a two-pointer and one free throw. Cannon sealed the game with nine points, taking the 47-24 win.
The Bulldogs were in the same boat as they faced the Cannon Lions. DWS scored eight in the first period, with Chase Young getting a couple of two-pointers, while Ethan Brown and Porter Hancock each had one. Cannon poured it on with 18 points.
DWS was held to only four in the second, with Conner Talley hitting a two-pointer, and Young sinking a couple of free throws. Cannon piled on another 14 points, taking a 32-12 halftime lead.
Young hit a two-pointer, a three-pointer, and a free throw for the Bulldogs in the third, while Hancock had a two-point basket, and Ben Driver a free throw. Cannon added another 18, and took the 50-21 lead.
The Bulldogs were held to just one point in the fourth, with a free throw by Hancock, while Cannon sealed the game with four, taking the 54-22 win.
