The DeKalb West School Bulldogs were on the field last week, catching up on some missed games, and winding down their season with some wins.
On April 22, DeKalb West traveled to Lascassas where they played a close game. The game would come down to one run late in the game.
DeKalb struck first, with Seth Whaley scoring a run in the first inning. In the third, Paxton Butler would come in with a run, but Lascassas got on the board with a run in the third, and another in the fourth. The game went to seven innings, when John Maynard came in with the winning run of the game. The Bulldogs came away with a win, 3-2.
On April 24, the Bulldogs were at home where they faced off with Tuckers Crossroads. DeKalb played hard and came away with another big win.
DWS scored first, with Butler, Whaley, and Maynard each touching home plate in the first inning. Grayson Redmon, Whaley, and Colter Norris each scored in the second inning, while Derek Fish came home in the fourth.
The Bulldogs’ defense kept Tuckers Crossroads away from the scoreboard, and DWS took the shutout, 7-0.
On April 25, the Bulldogs were again at home, this time taking on a team from Prescott.
Prescott’s lead off batter came home during the first inning, but Butler, Redmon, Whaley, and Maynard each scored for the Bulldogs. Butler and Redmon joined Luke Oliver in scoring in the second inning, giving the game’s final score. The Bulldogs would hold Prescott scoreless for the rest of the game with final score, 7-1.
