during Hall of Fame tournament play. The teams would each play one game on Tuesday, against Wilson Central, then travel to Gordonsville for two games each on Saturday.
On November 19, the Lady Tigers took on Wilson Central in what would be a tough night for DeKalb. The girls would fall behind in the first period, and never be able to catch up.
Avery Agee scored the only points for DeKalb in the first period, off of a three-point basket. Wilson would run away with 23 points.
The Lady Tigers would finally start finding the hoop in the second period, with Agee hitting a three and a couple of free throws, while Laurie Rigsby and Lillie Young each had a two-pointer. Jordyn Agee added a free throw point. Wilson would get 12, and lead 35-13 at the half.
DeKalb put 13 on the board in the third, With Jordyn Agee hitting a three-pointer and four free throws, while Chloe VanVranken hit a two and three free throws. Young added a free throw. Wilson pulled away with 17 points, taking a 52-26 lead.
Allie Melton hit a two-point basket and a couple of free throws for the Lady Tigers in the fourth, while Avery Agee, Jerusalem Aldino, and Millie Barton each had a two-point shot. VanVranken had two free-throw points, while Jordyn Agee had one. Wilson ended the game with nine points, taking a 62-39 win.
In the Tigers’ game, the boys would stay close but Wilson would slowly pull away as the game wore on. The Tigers scored seven points in the first period, with a two and three-pointer by Dallas Kirby, and a two-point basket by Logan Duke. Wilson Central was held to six points.
DeKalb came away with 10 points in the second period. Seth Fuson sank a three-pointer, while Porter Hancock had a pair of two-point baskets. Duke added a two-pointer, while Kirby had a free throw. Wilson put 15 on the board, taking the 21-17 halftime lead.
The Tigers added 10 more in the third period, with three two-point shots and two free throws by Kirby, while Jon Hendrix added a two-point basket. Wilson continued to pull away with 17 points and the 38-27 lead.
Hendrix and David Wheeler each had a three-point shot for the Tigers in the fourth, while Kirby added a pair of two-pointers. Jordan Parker got on the board with a two-pointer and a free throw. Wilson ended the game with 21 and the 59-40 win.
On Saturday, the teams were in Gordonsville where they faced some stiff competition. The first game would be against Liberty Creek, and the Lady Tigers would have some troubles. The girls would take their shots during the game, but just not seem to find the hoop.
The Lady Tigers scored six points in the first period. VanVranken hit a pair of twos, while Jordyn Agee had one. Liberty Creek crept ahead with seven points.
DeKalb scored five in the second period, with a two-point shot and a free throw by VanVranken and a two-pointer by Allie Melton. Liberty Creek jumped ahead with 11 points and the 18-11 halftime lead.
VanVranken hit a pair of two-pointers for DeKalb in the third, while Jordyn Agee hit a two and a free throw. Brooklyn Fuson and Young each had a two-pointer, while Melton added a free-throw point. Liberty Creek added 16 to the board, taking the 34-27 lead.
The Lady Tigers would only muster four more points in the fourth. Melton sank a three-pointer, while Jordyn Agee had a free throw. Liberty Creek added seven to the board, taking the 42-27 win.
The Tigers’ game would be much closer. DeKalb scored seven points in the first period, with a three-point shot by Seth Fuson, and two-pointers by Hendrix and Kirby. Liberty Creek jumped out with 19 points.
The Tigers got moving in the second period. Hendrix sank a three, Porter Hancock and Logan Duke each had a pair of two-pointers, and Elliot Barnes and Parker each hit a two-point shot. Liberty Creek was held to 11, but were still up 30-22 at the half.
DeKalb scored nine in the third period, with Kirby sinking a two and three-pointer, while Hancock and Duke each had a two-point basket. Liberty Creek was held to six, but were still up 36-31.
Hendrix hit on a pair of three-pointers and a free throw for the Tigers in the fourth, while Kirby had a three-point shot of his own. Liberty Creek added 12 to the board, taking the 48-41 win.
Later that same day, each team squared off against teams from Gordonsville. The Lady Tigers’ game would remain close to the end.

DeKalb put 11 on the board in the second period, with a three by Kirby, and twos by Parker, Barnes, Hancock, and Chase Young. Gordonsville would put 14 on the board and hold a 27-18 lead at halftime.
The Tigers added 14 more points to the board in the third period, with a three-pointer by Barnes and a two-pointer and a free throw by Kirby and Hendrix. Duke and Young each had a two-point basket. Gordonsville put 15 on the board, taking a 42-32 lead.
Barnes had a three for the Tigers in the fourth, while Kiece Hannah and J.T. Summers each had a two-pointer. Hendrix and Kirby each added a pair of free throws. Gordonsville ended with nine points, taking the 51-43 win.
