The DeKalb West Lady Bulldogs basketball team took a 41-28 beating in their season opener against Woodbury Elementary on Nov. 8.
Woodbury outpaced the Lady bulldogs 10-6 in the first period of the game, and 13-8 in the second, setting up a 23-14 advantage at half time. A 7-4 third period put DWS down 30-18 at the end of the third. The Lady bulldogs outscored Woodbury 10-9 in the final period, but it was not nearly enough to save them from the 41-28 loss.
Gracie Griffin led the DWS team with 14 points, while Summer Crook and Emma Damron contributed four each. Madison Martin scored three points in the contest, and Lindsey Ellis and Aniston Farler added two each.
Meanwhile, the Lady Bulldogs finished third in the Forks River tournament last week.
