Lady Saints Fall in Baxter
While the DeKalb Middle School Lady Saints' last scheduled home game of the season, against Van Buren County, was cancelled last week due to a Covid-19 amongst the other team, the ladies did manage to get a game on the books on the road.
On Thursday, January 7, the Lady Saints traveled to Putnam County to face off with a tough Baxter team. It would be a hard game for DMS.
The Lady Saints were shut out of the first quarter, while Baxter put up 13.
DMS finally got on the board in the second quarter, with a two-point shot and a free throw by Chloe VanVraken, and a two-pointer by Dare Collins. Baxter matched DeKalb shot for shot however, taking a 18-5 halftime lead.
VanVraken had a pair of three-point baskets and a free throw for the Lady Saints in the third quarter, while Collins added a free throw point. Baxter piled on with 14 points, taking a 32-13 lead.
The Lady Saints only scored two points in the fourth quarter, with two free throw points by VanVraken. Baxter continued to pile up the points, getting 14, and taking the 46-15 win.
