Lady Saints Nab Two Strong Victories

Kora Kilgore surrendered two runs on two hits, over three innings, striking out 10 and walking one in the Lady Saints' game against Prescott Middle.

 

The DeKalb Middle School Lady Saints Softball team started their season with a couple of impressive wins

 

On Thursday, March 4, the Lady Saints defeated Prescott Middle School 13-2 thanks to eight runs in a big second inning.  Bryana Pelham, Laurie Rigsby, A. Cuevas, Zayleigh Washer, and Annabella Dakas each had RBIs in the inning.

 

DMS tallied eight runs in the second inning.  The Lady Saints' big inning was driven by walks by Rigsby and Cuevas, a triple by Washer, a single by Pelham, and a double by Dakas.

 

Kora Kilgore was credited with the victory for Saints, with the lefty surrendering two runs on two hits, over three innings, striking out 10 and walking one.

 

The Lady Saints collected 11 hits.  Washer, Pelham, Avery Agee, and Dakas each managed multiple hits. Washer went three-for-three at the plate to lead DMS in hits. 

 

On Friday, the Lady Saints took on Warren County in a game that came down to the fourth inning. The game was tied 3-3 with Lady Saints batting in the top of the fourth when Kora Kilgore grounded out, scoring one run.

 

Saints fired up the offense in the first inning, when Bryana Pelham singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

 

In the bottom of the third inning, Warren County tied things up at three.

 

Kilgore toed the rubber for Saints. The pitcher allowed one hit and four runs over five innings, striking out 13.

 

DMS racked up seven hits in the game. Pelham and Katherine Knowles each racked up multiple hits for Lady Saints. Knowles and Pelham each collected two hits to lead Saints. The Lady Saints nabbed the 7-4 victory.
