The DCHS Lady Tigers’ season came to an end last Friday evening in the first round of the District 7AAA Basketball Tournament with a loss to the Cumberland County Lady Jets. Cumberland County hosted the tournament over the weekend.
In the first period, the Lady Tigers fell way behind, only scoring three points on a three-point basket by Chloe VanVranken. The Lady Jets steamed ahead with 18 points.
DeKalb did a little better in the second period, with three-point shots by Allie Melton and Jordyn Agee and a pair of free throws by VanVranken. Cumberland padded their lead with 23 points and the 41-11 halftime score.
Avery Agee got on the board for the Lady Tigers in the third period, sinking a couple of three-point shots, while sister Jordyn Agee had one of her own. Lillie Young added a free throw point. The Lady Jets added 15, taking a 56-21 lead.
The Lady Tigers would end the game and the season with five more points. Avery Agee sank a three-point basket, while Millie Barton had a two-pointer. The Lady Jets also scored five, claiming the 61-26 win.
The Lady Tigers ended with a record of 6-23.
