Lady Tigers fall in final regular games

The DCHS Lady Tigers basketball team ended the regular season last week with a couple of losses. The team fell on the road in Livingston, before facing a tough Lady Panthers team at home.

On Tuesday, the Lady Tigers traveled to Livingston Academy to take on the Lady Wildcats. The girls would fall behind early, only scoring six in the first period. Jordyn Agee sank a three-point basket, while Allie Melton had a couple of free-throw points. Lillie Young had one free throw. The Lady Wildcats put 22 on the board.

Chloe VanVranken got on the board with a couple of two-point shots, while Melton had one. Livingston kept piling on with 16 points and the 38-12 halftime lead.

Autumn Crook hit a three-pointer and a two-pointer for the Lady Tigers in the third, while Jordyn and sister Avery Agee each had a two-point basket. VanVranken added a free-throw point. The Lady Wildcats added 10 to their score, still up 48-22.

The Lady Tigers ended the game with 13 more points. Crook hit a three and a pair of free throws, while Millie Barton had a pair of two-pointers. Avery Agee had a two-point shot, while Brooke Fuson had a couple of free throws. Livingston sealed the game shut with 11 points, taking the 59-35 win.

The following Friday, the girls were back on their home court, playing the final home game of the season against Stone Memorial. The game would be close to the end.

The Lady Tigers scored 16 in the first period, with Jordyn Agee sinking a two and three-pointer, while Melton and Avery Agee each had one three-point shot. VanVranken added a two-pointer, while Young had a two and a free throw. The Lady Panthers inched ahead with 22 points.

Melton hit a two and three-pointer for the Lady Tigers in the second period, while Jordyn Agee hit a three, and VanVranken a two-pointer. Stone Memorial put 12 on the board, taking the 34-26 lead at halftime.

The Lady Tigers scored 18 in the third period. VanVranken hit a three-point shot and six free-throw baskets, while Melton added a pair of three-point baskets. Avery Agee also had a three-pointer. Stone was held to 11, with DeKalb cutting the lead, 45-44.

It would be a battle in the fourth period. DeKalb scored 13 points with Avery Agee hitting a three, and three free throws, while Melton had a three-pointer as well. VanVranken and Barton each had a two-pointer. The Lady Panthers fought back and scored 20, taking the 65-57 win.
