Lady Tigers Fall in OT, Then Get a Shutout

The DeKalb Lady Tigers Soccer team was in action the last couple of weeks, falling in a close overtime match on the road, then getting a big victory at home.

On Tuesday, Sept. 15, the Lady Tigers traveled to Stone Memorial in Crossville, TN, The game would be a stalemate through regulation play with neither team getting a goal.  Overtime play would not go DeKalb's way, with the Panthers coming away with the 1-0 overtime win. Kelbi Young had 24 saves in the match.

 It would be a different story the following Thursday, when the Lady Tigers hosted the Lady Bees of Upperman. The game would see some big scoring from the DeKalb team.

 Sophia Angeletti would get the first goal of the game, 20 minutes into the match. She would repeat just seven minutes later, putting DeKalb up 2-0.

 Juana Godinez added to the Lady Tigers' score in the second period, with an assist by Casandra Garcia. Raven Savage would ad a goal just two minutes later, and Casandra Garcia would put a point on the board two minutes after that. Savage would strike once more 21 minutes into the second half, with the scoring capped off in the game by Avery Valdez.

 Altogether, the Lady Tigers would get away with the 7-0 shutout. Young would have three saves at the goal.

 The Lady Tigers next traveled to Livingston, on Tuesday, Sept. 22, where they would come away with a 0-2 loss. Young would have 23 saves in the game.

 The game scheduled for the following Thursday was cancelled due to rain.
