The DeKalb County High School Lady Tigers soccer team had their work cut out for them during their home game with Murfreesboro Central Magnet. The night started out with both teams being aggressive to the ball, but within the first five minutes of the game Central Magnet’s Julia Barch closed down the play to complete the first goal.

Twelve minutes into the game DCHS Lady Tigers would come back with an early ball to Angeles Soto, giving them a 1-1 tie.

Two minutes later, Murfreesboro Central Magnet’s Barch would penetrate the DCHS Lady Tigers defense to complete another goal.

Although, DCHS Lady Tigers defenders would set up the offside trap against Central Magnet, their forwards would keep the pressure on to score in the 16th, 22nd and 25th minute of the game. Central Magnet would once again score during the 26th and 31st minute pushing the score up by 7-1 at half time.

Starting the second half of the game the DCHS Lady Tigers would step up their level of play and hold Murfreesboro Central Magnet 7-1 until the last two minutes in the game.

Savannah Berry from Murfreesboro Central Magnet would complete another goal giving them an 8-1 win against DCHS Lady Tigers.

The DCHS Lady Tigers walked away with a positive sportsmanship attitude, and vowed to work harder for the upcoming games. During the huddle after the game, Coach Kleparek gave the girls an encouraging outlook for their season knowing this team will only get better.

The DeKalb/York game was cancelled on Thursday due to lightning and rescheduled for Sept. 22, at 6:30 at York.
