The DeKalb County Lady Tigers lost a knock-down-drag-out game of basketball against Central Magnet in Murfreesboro Friday night 52-44 in overtime.
Central led the Lady Tigers 14-11 at the end of the first, but DeKalb gained a 26-19 advantage in a late second-period rally to take the lead before the half. CM battled back to a 35-33 lead in the third, but a fourth quarter melee saw the final buzzer sound with the score tied at 44-44.
The ladies from Murfreesboro managed eight unanswered points in overtime, however, and DeKalb County ended up down 52-44.
Hannah Panter topped the Lady Tiger offense with 20 points, dropping three three-pointers in and going 4-for-3 from the foul line. Macy Hedge put eight points in for DeKalb, Emme Colwell added seven, Mya Ruch scored five, and Lydia Brown contributed four.
Meanwhile, Macon County handed the Lady Tigers a loss in Lafayette Tuesday night, defeating DCHS 61-36.
The Lady Tigers trailed 14-10 at the end of the first period, and were down 34-19 at the halftime buzzer. DeKalb was behind 44-30 after the third period, and 61-36 when time ran out.
Lydia Brown led the Lady Tigers with nine points, while Emme Colwell was close behind with eight. Joni Robinson put six in, and Macy Hedge scored five. Sophie Cripps placed four points for DeKalb, Hannah Panter scored three, and Maddison Parsley added one.
The Lady tigers will travel to Woodbury Friday night to face Cannon County. Tipoff is at 6 p.m., with the Tigers’ game to follow.
The Central Magnet Tigers handed the DeKalb Tigers a 70-38 loss Friday night in Murfreesboro.
The first period ended with DeKalb trailing 17-11, and they fell behind 37-15 by halftime. CM enjoyed a 56-31 margin by the end of the third, and went on to win 70-38.
Tanner Poss led the Tigers with 11 points in the game, while Marshal Evins and Austin Johnson scored nine each. Colter Norris put three in, and Trey Jones, Gentry Harpole, and Bradley Miller all recorded two points each in the contest.
Meanwhile, Macon County took the Tigers down 63-41 in Lafayette Tuesday night.
The Tigers led 11-9 at the end of the first period, but Macon took a 27-18 lead before the half. The Tigers trailed 44-27 after the third, and Macon held on to win the game 63-41.
Tanner Poss scored 19 points in the game, Marshal Evins put 11 in, and Gentry Harpole scored seven. Austin Johnson placed three, and Trey Jones added one.
The snowed-out boys’ game against Trousdale will be made up on Jan. 26 at 5:30 p.m. in Smithville, and the Tigers will face border rival Cannon County Friday night in Woodbury. Tipoff for the Lady Tigers’ game is set for 6:30 p.m., with the Tigers game to follow.
