The Lady Tigers held a share of the district lead going to Woodbury last night after beating Watertown this past week 73-54 in a game that wasn’t a close as the score would suggest.
With leads as big as 30 points before the Lady Purple Tigers of Watertown went on a late run for window dressing on the final score, the DeKalb squad shot the lights out from the field to achieve their perfect 3-0 district record. Their hot shooting night included 10 trifectas from beyond the arch.
Lady Tiger Emme Colwell rained down threes on the Purple Tigers all night, popping two of her five triples in the first. She led all scorers on the night with 21 as the hosts got out to a 19-5 lead to the delight of a ruckus home crowd. The only bright point for Watertown came in the second as they were able to outscore the Lady Tigers 15-11 and go to the locker room down by 10. Joni Robinson led the way in the second with five for DeKalb.
The third quarter erased any hope Watertown had for a comeback as an early Lady Tiger run stretched the lead into the twenties with Lydia Brown coming to life, hitting a pair of threes on her way to scoring all eight of her total game points in the third stanza.
The lead stretched to 30 early in the fourth as Colwell hit a pair of triples from beyond the arch while Kadee Ferrell bucked three field goals.
A full court press by Watertown led to several successive turnovers down the stretch, allowing the Purple Tigers to cut the lead to 19 by the end.
Spurring on DeKalb in scoring were Kadee Ferrell with 14, Lydia Brown and Mya Ruch, both with eight, Mallori Hart with seven, Joni Robinson and Kenzie France, both with five and Megan Cantrell with two.
Their win this past week came after they romped at Livingston just days before, claiming a 48-33 over their district foe. Kadee Ferrell led that charge with 23 points.
