It’s hard to believe that the DeKalb Middle School Saints football season is already in the books. To celebrate the team’s accomplishments and recognize some of the outstanding players and cheerleaders, the team held their annual Football Banquet last Thursday evening. The event was held at First Baptist Church in Smithville, where team members, family, and coaches gathered for a dinner and ceremony.

Sophie Adcock was named as Most Valuable Cheerleader for 2023, while the Saints named Co-Most Valuable Player awards to Reed Midgett and Aiden Summers.

Others honored for the Saints during the banquet included Most Improved player Gavin Frazier, and Best Lineman Eli Jones. The Offensive Player of the Year award was presented to Quarterback Collin Donnell, while the Defensive Player of the Year honor was awarded to Preston Taylor. Cooper Odom was presented with the Saints Award for 2023.

Those named All Conference were Eli Jones, Collin Donnell, Reed Midgett, Preston Taylor, and Aiden Summers.

Others honored on the cheer squad were Mikayla Troutt with the Most Spirited award, while the Leadership Award was presented to Khloe Grandstaff. Most Improved went to Callen Tramel, while the Best Jumps honor was presented to Kenna Sykes. Destiny Guinn received the Best Tumble awards, while Cora Cox was named Hardest Worker.
