Regular season for Tigers finished

The DeKalb County High School Tigers basketball team closed out its regular season with two losses, one on the road and another at home. The team now moves on to the district tournament in Crossville on Thursday.

On Tuesday, February 11, the Tigers were on the road, taking on the Livingston Wildcats in a close game through the first half. The game would get away in the second.

The Tigers scored 14 in the first period, with Dallas Kirby sinking a pair of three-pointers, while Jordan Parker and Jon Hendrix each had a three-point shot of their own. Logan Duke added a two-point basket. The Wildcats scored 13.

DeKalb came away with 12 points in the second period, with Parker hitting a two and three-pointer, Kirby a three, and Seth Fuson and Hendrix each with a two-pointer. Livingston added 18 to the board, taking the 31-26 halftime lead.

Parker came away with a couple of two-pointers and a free throw for the Tigers in the third period, while Kirby hit another three-point shot. Duke added a two-pointer, and Fuson a free throw. The Wildcats added 12, taking the 43-37 lead.

Kirby sank three two-point baskets for the Tigers in the fourth, while Fuson and Elliott Barnes each had one. Livingston would roll away with 18 points and the 61-47 win.

The following Friday, the Tigers were in front of the hometown crowd for the last time this season as they hosted Stone Memorial. The Tigers would fall behind early and never bounce back.

DeKalb scored nine points in the first period. Parker sank three two-point baskets, while Kirby added one of his own. Duke had a free-throw point. The Panthers piled 22 on the board.

It was all Parker and Kirby for the Tigers in the second period. Parker had a couple of two-pointers and a pair of free throws, while Kirby had a couple of twos and three free throws. Stone Memorial added 12, taking the 34-22 lead at the half.

Kirby hit a two-pointer and three free throws for the Tigers in the third, while Duke had a two and one free throw. Parker, Barnes, and Hendrix each had a two-pointer, Hancock a pair of free throws, and Chase Young one free throw. The Panthers steamrolled with 25 and the 59-39 lead.

Kirby had a three-point shot and four free-throw points for DeKalb in the fourth, while Hancock added a pair of two-point baskets. Parker and Hendrix each had a two-pointer, while Fuson had a couple of free throws. Stone Memorial would end the game with 17 points and the 76-56 win.
