The 2023 DeKalb County Fair is in the books and though the rainy weather resulted in the cancelation of some of the more prominent events, there were a few crowd pleasers for spectators to see.
On Monday, the always popular demolition derby started things off on the hill for the fair. A large crowd was on hand to see modified V-8s, stock V-8s, and front wheel drive vehicles go at it in the ultimate parking lot battle.
Brett Raimes took top prize in the modified V-8 competition, with Jeremy Taylor taking second and Chase Taylor coming in third.
In the stock V-8 battle, Atlas Barber took the top prize, while Dakota Tallent came in second. Third place was awarded to Herbert Elkins.
In the front wheel drive category, John Baswell came out ahead of 12 other drivers, while Ernie Thomas came in second. Third place went to Brantley Williams.
On Tuesday night, motors could be heard revving as the ATV and motorcycle races took place. There were entries for all ages and sizes, and the crowds got to see some awesome racing on the dirt track.
Unfortunately, the main event for Saturday, the truck and tractor pull had to be cancelled due to rain and muddy conditions. Hopefully the event will return next year.
