The DeKalb County Fair 5K Run and One-mile Fun Run opted for an evening race this year, trying to avoid the high temperatures usually associated with late July. But the move actually saved runners from having to run in the rain this year. The weather was warm and muggy, but the bulk of the rainfall had moved out by race time.
Runners lined up on Main Street in Alexandria for a course that would take them to the Wilson County line and back. Alexandria Police and Fire, and DeKalb EMS was on hand, blocking off roadways and making sure everyone was safe for the event.
