The DeKalb Middle School golf team split with Smith County in the season opener at Smithville Golf Course on Tuesday, March 22. The boys’ team won, sweeping all matches, 143 to 159. The girls were narrowly defeated 75 to 73.
Playing for the boys were Jamison Troncoso, Cooper Goodwin, Abram Koegler, Bradley Hale and Carson Tramel. The girls’ team was Chloe Boyd and Emily Anderson.
Troncoso took medalist honors with a score of 30 for the six-hole match. Also competing in exhibition matches were Lee Tramel, Turner Bryant, Lance Duke and Andrew Caplinger.
DMS took a victory over visiting Watertown Middle, last Friday at Smithville Golf Course on a cold and windy afternoon. The boys team, once again swept all matches.
Competing were Jamison Troncoso, Abram Koegler, Cooper Goodwin, Bradley Hale and Carson Palmer. Goodwin took medalist honors with a 32 for the six holes in very challenging conditions. Lee Tramel, Turner Bryant and Lance Duke also played exhibition matches.
For the girls, Emily Anderson and Chloe Boyd defeated the Watertown pair by three strokes.
