Robert Wheeler single-handedly outscored Watertown as the DeKalb Middle School Saints continued their charge toward the state tournament with only a single loss on their record, watering down Watertown, 48-12.

Sporting a 17-1 record, the Saints play at Cannon County Thursday night to complete their regular season. They will then take aim at the James C. Hale post-season tournament in Murfreesboro set to run Jan. 14-27.

Their trip to Watertown proved to be a laugher as they stonewalled their hosts, going up 15-2 after the first period. Elishah Ramos had seven and Robert Wheeler had six as the rout was on early. The Saints’ Mason Winter came on in the second, leading the way with six points while Watertown was again limited to a single basket, leaving the tally at 26-4 at half. A Marcus Reynolds three was all that kept Watertown from having another two-point quarter in the third as the Saints outscored their hosts 14-5 in the third with Wheeler getting nine in the stanza. He led all scorers and outscored the entire Watertown team with 19.

Marcus Reynolds again saved Watertown in the fourth, this time from being shut out as his three-pointer was the only score posted by his squad in the fourth.

Scoring alongside Wheeler were Ramos with 11, Ean Jones with seven, Mason Winter with six and Stetson Agee with two.
