Seniors honored

While the games didn’t turn out to be a celebration as DeKalb dropped two to Upperman Friday night, another topic was a happy moment for the squads.

Eight seniors were honored during the break to celebrate senior night.

Honored during the ceremony were:

Trey Jones – Four-year DCHS boys basketball player, team captain playing forward and center, son of Bryan and Michelle Jones he’s a member of FBLA, Senior Beta, FCA and Science Club. Awards: Member of the Pride of DCHS, All-District Honorable Mention junior year and member of the 21+ Club club. His future plans are to attend MSCC for an Associate’s then transfer to Tennessee College of Applied Technology to study machining and tool and die.

Marshall Evins – Four-year player DCHS basketball team guard, son of Dub and Edie Beth Evins he’s also a member of the golf team, Senior Beta, FBLA and the 21+ Club. Awards: Honorable Mention and District AA Honorable Mention sophomore year. His future goals are to attend UT, Belmont or Lipscomb University and major in engineering.

Ethan Cantrell – Four-year DCHS basketball forward, son of Lean Ingram and Anthony Cantrell he’s a member of Beta, FBLA, FCA, Literature Club, Tennis and a member of the First Baptist Church youth group. His future goals are to attend UT at Knoxville to major in business marketing.

Austin Johnson – Four-year DCHS basketball guard, son of David and Patricia Johnson he’s a member of FBLA, Science Club, 21+ Club and Senior Beta. Awards: Third place in state mathematics fair project and competed in the state chemistry Olympiad. His future goals are to attend UT at Chattanooga and major in engineering.

Amelia Diane Patterson – Four-year DCHS cheerleader and co-captain, daughter of Adrian Patterson and April Odom she attends Baptist Tabernacle Church. Awards include nominated for All-American sophomore, junior and senior year, received the All-Freshman award along with most spirit and best smile sophomore year. She plans to attend Cumberland University then further her career and be a 911 dispatcher.

Olivia Winter – Three-year DCHS cheerleader and co-captain, daughter of Alec and Sandy Winter she is a member of Senior Beta, Science Club, Spanish Club and FCCLA. Awards: All-American nominee senior year and DCHS Pride student. Her future plans are to attend MSCC and later TTU.

Hannah Evans – Four-year DCHS cheerleader, captain, she is the daughter of Mike and Amy Evans. Awards: Named most Dependable Senior, Senior Class Treasurer and All-American nominee junior and senior years. Her future plans are to attend TTU where she plans on studying nursing.

Emily Jane Glass – One-year DCHS team manager and daughter of Ricky and Jane Mathis shes a member of FFA, FCA, Spanish Club and played synthesizer, cymbals and bass drum in the DeKalb County band for two years. Her future plans include attending college after graduation.
