The 24th Annual Fiddler 5K and One-Mile Fun Run was underway last Saturday morning, featuring 270 participants, with 247 finishers. The race had a pace of 11:44/mile, with an average time of 36:23 minutes.
The race is sponsored by Habitat for Humanity of DeKalb County, Inc. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call home. The organization partners with people in the community, and all over the world, to help build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With your support, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families.
In the 5K race, 17-year-old Matthew Sinclair of Carthage, TN, was the overall winner, coming in with a time of 19:17, while 16-year-old Ella Van Vranken of Silver Point, TN, came in first in the female category, fifth overall, with a time of 20:11.
Joseph Crane, 40, of Nashville came in first in the Masters category, second overall, with a time of 19:25, while 44-year-old Kristen Van Vranken of Silver Point came in first in the Masters female category, 13th overall, with a time of 22:16.
Other notable finishes include 49-year-old Fidel Balderas of Smithville, coming in third overall with a time of 19:59, 17-year-old Aaron Gottlied of Smithville, in fourth place with a time of 20:09, 16-year-old Ian Colwell of Smithville, in sixth place with a time of 20:22, and 41-year-old Blake Shearer of Cookeville, TN, in seventh with a time of 20:25.
In the female category, 42-year-old Melissa Cunningham of Summerville, SC, came in third place with a time of 22:50, 30-year-old Emily Wheeler of Ames, IA, came in fourth with a time of 23:07, and 31-year-old Reily Kennedy of Ely, MN, came in fifth with a time of 23:07.
In the 9 and Under category, eight-year-old David Rohman of Cookeville, came in first in the male category with a time of 33:01, while nine-year-old Chloe Armstrong of Crossville, TN, came in first in the girls’ category with a time of 49:45.
In the 10-14 group, 14-year-old Antonio Jones of McMinnville, came in with a time of 21:44, while 14-year-old Mylie Phillips of Smithville ran 24:26 for the female category.
The 15-19 class, after Sinclair and Van Vranken’s times, saw 17-year-old Kailey Harvey of Alexandria, TN, with a time of 36:44 for the females, while 17-year-old Aaron Gottlied of Smithville, ran 20:09 for the males.
For the 20-24 category, 23-year-old Kira King of Christiana, TN, ran 24:36, while 21-year-old Lucas Crawford of Silver Point came in with a time of 26:15.
The 25-29 category saw 28-year-old Emily Davis of Liberty run 24:59, while 28-year-old John Lewis of Murfreesboro ran a time of 26:56.
In the 30-34 category, 31-year-old Anderson Webb of Smithville, ran a time of 22:32, with 30-year-old Emily Wheeler of Ames, IA, ran 23:07.
For the 35-39 category, 39-year-old Nathan Aaron of Sparta, TN, came in with a time of 22:59, while 39-year-old Cindy Snow of Dowelltown, had a time of 31:41.
The 40-44 category, after Crane and Van Vranken’s times, saw 41-year-old Blake Shearer of Cookeville, TN, ran 20:25, while 42-year-old Melissa Cunningham of Summerville, SC, came in with a time of 22:50.
In the 45-49 category, 49-year-old Fidel Balderas of Smithville, ran a time of 19:59, with 48-year-old Jennifer Shope of Cookeville, TN, coming in with 26:15.
For the 50-54 group, 50-year-old Travis Shope of Cookeville, TN, ran 21:21, with 50-year-old Lori Gregg of Atlanta, GA, coming in with 27:04.
In the 55-59 class, 58-year-old Allison Wills-Brooks of Smithville, ran a time of 27:37, while 56-year-old John Snyder of Carmel, IN, ran 34:09.
The 60-64 category had 60-year-old Terry Quillen of Tullahoma, TN, run a time of 22:48, with 62-year-old Tamra Smith of Shelbyville, TN, came in at 27:49.
The 65-69 age group saw 67-year-old Alvin Doggett of Pulaski, TN, run a time of 31:24, with 67-year-old Lisa Faehl of Cookeville ran 40:15.
The 70-74 category had 71-year-old Dale Bohannon of Cookeville, TN, with a time of 29:09, while 74-year-old Doris Brown of Cookeville, TN, run a time of 45:17.
For the 75-79 group, 77-year-old J.C. Kelly of Smithville, ran 34:58, while 78-year-old Michael Braswell of Smithville came away with a time of 56:17.
In the One-Mile Fun Run, nine-year-old Anna Swafford of Bell Buckle, TN, was the overall winner with a time of 7:44, while seven-year-old Silas Richardson of Cookeville was the overall winner in the male category with a time of 8:02.
