Sixth Annual Earl Judkins Golf Classic
The sixth annual Earl Judkins Golf Classic hosted by Cantrell Cancer Benefit Society will take place Aug. 26 beginning 7:30 a.m. with the Shot Gun. The tournament will benefit Karen Jacobs, diagnosed with NET cancer in 2016, she is currently undergoing treatments. All proceeds go to her and her family. The entry fee is $75 for individual golfers or $300 for a team of four which includes 18 holes with cart and meal – mulligans can be bought prior to the shot gun. Entry deadline is Friday, Aug. 18. 1972 Tiger Football Team Reunion Sept. 1
The 1972 Tiger football team will reassemble on Friday night, Sept. 1 2017 at the White Possum Grille at 5 p.m. All members of this team regardless of class year, coaches, managers, and spouses are invited to attend. Following a Dutch-treat meal, the team will take a short walk to VanHooser Stadium to watch the Tigers compete with Stone Memorial High School.
The 1972 Tigers football season was in jeopardy due to a school budget crisis that year. The team overcame a slow start to post the first winning season in the history of DeKalb County High School. Forty-five years later, this team will break huddle one more time and wish the present team success in its first home game of the year.
