It was a split last week for DeKalb County tennis as the boys did not lose a meet while the girls came up short in all three of their contests.
The boys' wins included a squeaker over Warren County in which the Tigers edged their southern neighbor 5-4 in matches. Ethan Cantrell, Eli Cantrell and Garrett Hayes took wins while top seed Lance Davis, along with Dasson Medlin and Justin Washer, were defeated in their matches. The edge came down to doubles where DeKalb won two matches to one with the teams of Davis and Ethan Cantrell, along with Medlin and Eli Cantrell, winning their tilts while Christian Trail and Ben Snipes were defeated.
In girls action at the Warren County courts, Daisy Hernandez was the only singles winner while the team of Shelby Clayborn and Hannah McBride took the only doubles win.
In other action this past week the boys handed it to Sparta, winning seven of their nine matches while the girls came up short, winning three of nine matches. The boys dominated Cannon County, winning all but one of their seven matches while the girls won two of its seven matches.
