The opponents will be familiar for the DeKalb Tigers this year when they return to the gridiron, the only difference being where they will play as revealed by the 2019 football schedule released this week.

The season will begin with the long-standing border battle with the Warren County Pioneers who the Tigers nipped 19-14 last season. The Tigers will travel to McMinnville on Aug. 23 with hopes of getting their season off to a successful start.

They will then spend a second straight week on the road to kick off the season, traveling to Baxter to take on Upperman who hammered the Tigers on Smithville last year. The Bees would go on to make a deep run in the state playoffs, holding a number-three ranking in the state.

The Tigers will play their home opener Sept. 6 against Stone Memorial. The Crossville squad beat the Tigers convincingly last season at Stone.

The Tigers will go to Watertown Sept. 13. They also pounded the Tigers last year, rising as high as number-two in the state rankings.

On Sept. 20, Grundy County will come to Smithville looking to avenge the 28-6 crushing they took on their home field last season.

Homecoming will be held Sept. 27 when Cannon County comes to town. The Lions were able to steal a victory last season in Woodbury.

The Tigers will travel to Livingston on Oct. 4, looking to avenge a close loss to the district foes last season.

Smith County will come to town Oct. 11, marking another chance DeKalb will have to avenge a close loss last year.

The final home game will be held against Macon County on Oct. 18. Last year district ranking for the playoffs were on the line when Macon defeated the Tigers.

After a bye week on Oct. 25, the final regular season game will be played in Crossville Nov. 1 as the Tigers play Cumberland County who they mauled last year in Smithville.

The playoffs will begin Nov. 8. Kickoff for all regular season games is 7 p.m.
