The DeKalb County High School Tigerettes softball team finished out their regular season last week facing off against Livingston on Senior Night before taking on the Cookeville Lady Cavaliers for the regular season finale. They would get the shutout in one game, then fall in a close one later.

On Monday, April 29, the Tigerettes hosted the Lady Wildcats of Livingston during senior night. During a ceremony, Bri Murphy, Gracie Randolph, Makayla Scales, and Elaina Turner were each recognized for their contributions to the team.

During the game, DeKalb jumped out with the lead early and kept piling on runs throughout. Rylee Wilbur got the Tigerettes on the board in the first inning, leading the batting order and with a home run on a line drive to left field.

In the second inning, Bri Murphy singled on a grounder to short, followed by a single on a line drive to center by Elaina Turner. Raylie Cowan then singled on a fly to left as Murphy scored, then Hannah Brown singled on a line drive to right, loading the bases. Wilbur would sacrifice on a fly to center as Turner crossed the plate, and later Zayleigh Bain grounded to short, catching Brown at second. Bryna Pelham then stepped to the plate and doubled on a line drive to center sending Tatum Young, running for Cowan, and Bain home. DeKalb was up 5-0.

The Tigerettes kept piling on the runs at the bottom of the third after Gracie Randolph doubled on a line drive to right. Turner would later single on a grounder to right, then Cowan grounded out to first as Randolph scored. Brown was up again and singled on a line drive to center, sending Turner home. DeKalb commanded a 7-0 lead.

The Tigerettes would put the game away at the bottom of the fourth after Bain got a walk. Pelham would sacrifice to right as Bain scored, then Kora Kilgore decided it was time for a home run. The line drive out of left put DeKalb up 9-0. Randolph would then hit another double on a line drive to center, followed by a single line drive to center by Murphy. Turner would ground out to short, but Chaylea Lunsford, running for Randolph would score. The Tigerettes would end the game with the 10-0 shutout.

Murphy earned the win allowing two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out three and walking one.

The following night, the Tigerettes were taking on the Lady Cavs of Cookeville. It would be a close game with Cookeville chipping away at the scoreboard.

The Lady Cavs took the early lead, scoring one run at the top of the first, the top of the third, and another at the top of the fifth.

The Tigerettes one lone run came at the bottom of the fifth when Randolph homered on a line drive to left field.

Cookeville would score once more at the top of the sixth, and would hang on for the 4-1 win.

Murphy started in the circle, surrendering four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out three and walking none.

The Tigerettes moved on to district tourney play on Monday, facing Stone Memorial at Upperman.
