Tigers advance in District Tourney

The DeKalb County High School Tigers finished their regular season out last week, and have came in with two wins in the district tournament.
On May 1, the Tigers were in Murfreesboro to end their regular season in a doubleheader against Central Magnet. The team would play hard, but the outcome would not be the one the team had hoped for.
The first game was a 4-2 loss, with DeKalb pitcher A.J. Mooneyham giving up seven hits and two earned runs. Coach Slone told the Review, "He has pitched well for us this year."
Aaron Patterson went 2-4 with one RBI in the game, while Devin Summers was 1-3. John Roller was1-3, Nick Parsley 2-3, and Curtis was 1-3 with an RBI.
In the second game, the result would be no different. The Tigers lost, 6-0.
Nick Parsley was the losing pitcher, giving up four earned runs in six innnings. Jacob Self pitched the seventh inning, giving up no runs. The team only had two hits in the game, both by Luke Boss.
In the first round of the district tournament, the third seeded Tigers took on York Institute. The game would end with a 14-4 win for the Tigers in five innings.
Jennings was the winning pitcher, in relief of Steven Page, going four innings, giving up two runs, striking out six, and giving up three hits.
Jennings was 1-4  with two RBIs on offense, while Patterson went 1-3 with two RBIs. Boss was 2-4 with one RBI, Page 1-1, Roller 2-3 with one RBI, and Parsley 2-3 with three RBIs.
On May 5, the Tigers were on Upperman’s home field, taking on the Bees in the second round of the tournament. The game would result in yet another win for the team, beating Upperman 8-6 in 10 innings. The game also saw the two "Coaches of the Year," face off as Coach Tracy Slone was named the co-award winner, sharing the title with the coach from Upperman.
Summers pitched five innings, giving up two runs and five hits. Roller came in the sixth, giving up three runs in the sixth, with only one being earned, and giving up one run in the seventh to tie the game up. "John shut them down after that," Coach Slone said. "He gave up no runs in the last three innings."
Patterson was 1-4 in the game, while Summers was 3-4 with one RBI. Boss was 3-5, Mcmillen 2-5 with one RBI, Page 1-5 with two RBIs, and Roller was 1-5 with two RBIs.
"We were up 6-2 going into the sixth, but did not finish the game out and let them tie it up." Coach Slone said. "We did not quit and played hard and pulled the game out in the 10th inning. I am proud of these young men for fighting back.. This was a great high school baseball game."
The Tigers are 17-14 overall, and 2-0 in the district tournament.
