The DeKalb County High School Tigers basketball team was back in action last week, traveling to Sparta on Friday, before coming home for a rare Saturday game to make up a game cancelled due to snow. It would be another disappointing week for DeKalb fans.

On Friday, January 26, the boys traveled to White County where they would face the Warriors for the second time this season. In their previous meeting on January 5, the Tigers fell to White County at home, 61–38.

DeKalb scored four points in the first period, with two-pointers by Jon Hendrix and Dallas Kirby. The Warriors were held scoreless in the first.

Conner Close hit on a couple of two-point shots for the Tigers in the second period, while Hendrix had one. White County finally got moving with 13 points and the 13-10 halftime lead.

The Tigers scored 10 points in the third period, with a pair of two-point shots by Close, a three-pointer by Hendrix, and a two-pointer and a free throw by Kirby. The Warriors rolled on with 16 points and the 29-20 lead.

Seth Fuson and Alex Antoniak would score the only points for the Tigers in the fourth, each with a two-point basket. Meanwhile, White County added 13 to the board and claimed the 42-24 victory.

The following day, the Tigers were back in front of the hometown crowd and they hosted the Panthers of Stone Memorial. It would be a close game early, but the Panthers would pull away in the second half.

The Tigers scored 15 in the first period. Dallas Kirby sank three three-point shots, while Conner Close had two. The Panthers would inch ahead with 18 points.

Close caught fire in the second period, scoring four two-point baskets and a pair of three-pointers. Seth Fuson and Jon Hendrix each added a two-point shot. Stone Memorial was held to 10, giving the Tigers the 33-28 lead at the half.

Things fell apart for the Tigers in the second half, scoring only seven points in the third period. Close had a three-pointer, while Antoniak and Kirby each had a two-pointer. The Panthers put 20 on the board, going up 48-40.

The Tigers managed 18 points in the fourth period, with three two-point shots and a free throw by Close, a two and three-pointer by Fuson, and a three-point basket by Hendrix. Kirby had a pair of free throws. Stone Memorial added another 20 points and took the 68-57 win.
