The DeKalb County Tigers Baseball Team opened the season at home last week, claiming a 4-2 win over the tough Grundy County Yellow Jackets. The win was the first for the program’s new head coach, Tracy Slone.
For DeKalb, pitcher Devin Summers gave up three hits, with no earned runs and four strikeouts. "He pitched really well," Coach Slone told the Review.
Steven Jennings went 2-3 and scored twice, while Aaron Patterson was 1-3 with one run scored. Summers was also 1-3 with a RBI double, and Luke Boss was 2-3 with a double and two RBIs. A.J. Mooneyham was 1-2, and John Roller scored a run.
The Tigers had four double plays in the game, while offense had four runs, seven hits, and three errors. Grundy County had two runs, three hits, and three errors.
