The DeKalb County High School Tigers Baseball Team played five games last week, coming away with four victories, including one against the fourth ranked AAA team in the state.
On April 21, the Tigers were at home playing Livingston, where the team came away with a 11-1 win.
Steven Jennings was the winning pitcher, going six innings and giving up five hits, zero walks, and striking out nine.
On offense, Jennings was 2-4 with two doubles, while Aaron Patterson was 2-4. Devin Summers was 2-4 with a double and triple, Steven Page was 3-4, Roller was 1-4, Sam McMillen was 2-4 with a double, and Nick Parsley was 1-3 with a double. Jennings, Patterson, Summers, Page, Roller, and Curtis each had an RBI in the game.
In a second game with Livingston, the Tigers once again came away with a victory. Devin Summers was the winning pitcher, with a 12-5 win.
Jennings was 1-3 in the game, while Patterson was 2-4 with a double and two RBIs. Luke Boss was 3-4 with four RBIs and a three-run homer. McMillen 2-4 with a double, Roller was 2-4 with a double and two-run homer, Parsley was 2-4 with a three-run homer, and Curtis was 2-4 with a double.
On April 24, the Tigers were on the road, taking on the fourth-ranked AAA team, Siegel. The game would end with a big 5-1 victory for DeKalb.
Steven Page was the winning pitcher, going seven innings. He struck out eight hitters, giving up seven hits, and zero walks.
On offense, Jennings was 1-4 with a two RBI single in the seventh inning. Patterson was 1-4, Boss 1-2, Mcmillen 1-3, Roller 1-3, Page 0-1 with a RBI, and Nick Parsley 1-3 with a RBI single in the seventh.
The Tigers scored four runs in the seventh inning to seal the win.
On April 25, the Tigers were at home where they suffered their first lass of the week. The team took on Gordonsville, who had some heavy hitting, while DeKalb’s bats were light. The game would end with an 11-2 loss. John Roller was the losing pitcher.
Patterson went 1-4, while Summers was 1-2. Boss was 1-3 with an RBI, Roller 0-2 with a RBI, Page 1-3, and Curtis 1-1.
On April 26, the Tigers were on the field again, this time at home against Eagleville. The game would be close, but DeKalb came away with a 5-4 win.
Cason Oakley was the winning pitcher, giving up nine hits, walking one and striking out seven. He gave up four earned runs.
Hitters in the game were Jennings, who was 1-4 with a two-run homerun, and Roller who was 1-3 with a double. Summers was 1-2, Boss 1-4 with two RBIs, McMillen was 2-4 with one RBI, which was the game winning hit in the seventh inning, Page 1-3 with a double, Parsley 1-2, and Curtis 1-3.
The Tigers are 15-12 overall, and 8-4 in district play.
