The DeKalb County High School Tigers split games last week, getting a win against the Jets during Senior Night on Tuesday, before suffering a loss to the Bees last in the week.
During the game against the Cumberland Jets, the Tigers would dominate in each period. The Tigers scored 13 in the first period, with a pair of two-point shots and a free throw by Jordan Parker, while Seth Fuson had a couple of free throws and a two-point basket. Jon Hendrix and Dallas Kirby each had a two-pointer. The Jets were held to 10 points.
DeKalb put 18 on the board in the second period, with Parker hitting a pair of twos and three free throw points, while Kirby added a three-pointer and a couple of free throws. Fuson had a couple of two-point shots, while Logan Duke had one. Cumberland was held to 12, giving the Tigers the 31-22 halftime lead.
The Tigers kept rolling in the third period, scoring 20 more points. Hendrix hit three two-point baskets and a free throw, while Parker had a couple of twos and three free throws. Kirby added a couple of two-point shots, while Porter Hancock got on the board with one. The Jets were held to 16, giving DeKalb the 51-38 lead.
Kirby sank three two-point shots and five free throws for the Tigers in the fourth, while Hancock added a two-pointer and a pair of free throw points. Hendrix added one two-point basket. Cumberland was held to 15, giving DeKalb the 69-53 victory.
The following Friday was not so kind to the Tigers. On the road, DeKalb took on the Upperman Bees, and would fall behind early in the first period.
DeKalb scored 11 in the first with a couple of two-point shots and a free throw by Kirby, and a pair of twos by Chase Young. Fuson also had a two-pointer. Upperman started off with 21 points.
Duke and Kirby each sank a couple of two-pointers for the Tigers in the second period, while Fuson added one. The Bees kept swarming with 23 more points and the 44-21 lead at the half.
Hendrix sank a pair of threes for DeKalb in the third period, while Kirby had a three-pointer of his own. Upperman would put another 23 on the board, going up 67-30.
Young and Kiece Hannah each had a two-pointer for DeKalb in the fourth, but that was all the Tigers could muster. The Bees sealed the game with 10 points, taking the 77-34 win.
