Tigers Get Wins at Home and on the Road

The DeKalb County High School Tigers had a good week on the hardwood, hosting Cannon County in front of the hometown crowd before traveling to Watertown to battle the Purple Tigers.

On Tuesday, November 28, the Tigers were on their home court as the took on the Lions. The Tigers scored 10 in the first period, with a two and three-point basket by Dallas Kirby, a three-pointer by Jon Hendrix, and a two-point shot by Conner Close. The Lions also came away with 10 points.

The Tigers got moving in the second period, with Close hitting a two and three-point basket, while Dallas Kirby hit a two-pointer. Jordan Parker had a two-pointer and a couple of free throws, while Alex Antoniak had a pair of two-pointers. Cannon came away with eight points, giving DeKalb a 25-18 halftime lead.

DeKalb jumped out in the third period, scoring 12 points. Antoniak had a couple of two-point shots, while Hendrix had a two-pointer and a free throw. Parker added a three-point basket, while Kirby had another two-pointer. The Lions added 17, narrowing the lead 37-35 lead.

The Tigers would end the game with another 17 points. Close sank a pair of two-point baskets and three free throws, while Kirby added a two-pointer and three free throw points. Parker had a three-pointer, and Antoniak a two-pointer. Cannon was held to 17, giving DeKalb the 54-52 victory.

The following Friday the Tigers were on the road, traveling to Watertown where they would take on the Purple Tigers. It would be another good night for DeKalb.

The Tigers got off to a slow start, scoring only six points in the first period. Seth Fuson and Conner Close each had a two-pointer, while Jon Hendrix added a couple of free throws. The Purple Tigers jumped out with 12 points.

DeKalb got rolling in the second, scoring 18 points. Dallas Kirby hit a couple of two-point shots and a free throw, while Close added a two and three-point basket. Parker and Hendrix each had a three-pointer, while Fuson added another two-pointer. Watertown was held to eight, giving DeKalb the 24-20 lead at the half.

Parker sank a pair of two-point shots for the Tigers in the third, while Hendrix added a three-pointer. Antoniak and Kirby each had a two-point basket while Close came away with a two-pointer and a free throw. Watertown was held to 13 points giving the black and gold Tigers a 38-33 lead.

DeKalb lit up the scoreboard in the fourth. Close sank five two-point baskets, while Hendrix had a three-pointer and three free throw points. Parker had a two-pointer, Kaleb Spears two free throws, and Fuson one free throw point. Watertown was held to 10 points, giving DeKalb the 59-43 win.
