Walk across Tennessee just completed the eight week challenge and top teams announced. There were 22 teams and nearly 200 individuals competing.
According to UT Extension Agent April Martin, “Walk across Tennessee is an eight week competition that can include walking, bicycling, swimming, weight lifting, gardening, or any other activity where someone is active and exercising. It’s always a great way to start spring and get the community motivated to get outdoors and get moving.”
During the eight weeks, the teams had a combined total of 34,793!!! To compare, it is 24, 588 miles around the Earth’s circumference. “So essentially, as a group, we walked around the circumference of the Earth 1 ½ times.
The 1st Place Overall Team was …..Headstart Heroes #1 with a total of 2583.5 miles.
2nd Place Overall Team….Strong Striders with 2297 miles.
3rd Place Overall Team….Headstart Heroes #2 with 2273 miles.
The top female overall was Carla Pelham (Headstart Heroes team) with 1,123 miles.
The top male overall was Jeff Tanner (DTC team) with 1069 miles.
