Warriors slip by Tigers in 64-60 win

The White County Warriors slid by the DCHS basketball squad Saturday afternoon in a 64-60 game.

 

The Warriors outmatched the Tigers 18-11 in the first period of play, but DeKalb came back to best White 17-15 in the second. White County still held a 33-28 lead at the half, however.

 

The Tigers fought back to a 49-48 advantage by the end of the third, but a fourth period battle resulted in a four-point White county lead when the final buzzer sounded.

 

Gentry Harpole led the tiger offensive effort with 13 points in the game, while Marshal Evins followed closely with 12 points. Tanner Poss put 11 points in, and Austin Johnson and Colter Norris scored nine each. Chandler Vincent scored five points in the contest, and Bradley Miller added one to the Tiger tally.

 

The Tigers, 3-10 on the season, hosted Upperman on Jan. 10, and will travel to Carthage to face Smith County on Jan. 13. The team will travel to Macon County on Jan. 17, and to Murfreesboro to play Central Magnet on Jan. 20.

 

DeKalb will travel to Jamestown to meet York Institute on Jan. 24. The game with Trousdale County, postponed on Jan. 5 for snow, will be played Jan. 26 at 5:30 p.m.

 

The Tigers will finish up the month of January facing Cannon County in Woodbury on Jan. 27, and hosting Livingston Academy on Jan. 31.
