Wildcats out claw the Tigers

The DeKalb County High School Tigers basketball season came to a close last Saturday evening, as the team fell to the Wildcats in the opening round of the Region 4 AAA tournament in Tullahoma, TN.

The Tigers only scored three points in the first period, all on free throws, two from Jordan Parker and one from Dallas Kirby. Tullahoma would take a big lead, putting 20 on the board.

DeKalb put 10 on the scoreboard in the second period, with Parker and Jon Hendrix each hitting a two-point basket and a free throw, while Kirby and Elliott Barnes each had a two-point shot. The Wildcats padded their lead with 17 more points, taking a 37-13 halftime lead.

Kirby hit a two and three-point basket for the Tigers in the third period, while Logan Duke added a two-pointer of his own. Hendrix had a pair of free throw baskets. Tullahoma put 15 on the board, taking the 52-22 lead.

The Tigers would end the game with 12 more points. Kirby sank a three-pointer and a free throw, while Chase Young and David Wheeler each had one three-point shot. Barnes added a two-point basket. Tullahoma was held to nine, but it was more than enough for the 61-34 win.

DeKalb County ends the season at 10-22.
