Just as it was set to be repaired, The Veteran’s Memorial Bridge across Highway 70 at College Street has been hit by another truck.

The THP told the Review that a car hauler driven by Caisson Martin, 41, was traveling east on 70 when it hit the bridge Thursday morning. The driver, working for Martin Transport of Smithville, reportedly picked up load in Lebanon in his 2001 Freightliner. He was headed for Huntsville, Alabama when he hit the bridge at approximately 6:15 a.m. damaging five of the eight vehicles he was carrying.

The Smithville Police Department and Smithville Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
