The opening of bids on the construction of the new Sligo Bridge by the Tennessee Department of Transportation Friday saw six companies submit proposals on the projectMassman Construction Company placed a bid of $38,903,917 to complete the new bridge, while OCCI, Inc. brought in a bid of $39,337,790, and Charles Blalock & Sons, Inc. offered to build the structure for $39,587,579.C.J. Mahan Construction Company, LLC. bid the project at $40,064,372; Bell & Associates Construction, L.P. ventured that they could construct it for $53,376,504; and Wright Brothers Construction Company, Inc. placed a $57,499,874 bid.Bids were also opened for the installation of a flashing beacon at the intersection of U.S. 70 and State Route 83 near the Smithville city limits.Stansell Electric Company, Inc. placed a bid of $33,174 to complete the project, while S & W Contracting Company, Inc. offered to install the system for $33,320.
