Couple cited for animal cruelty

A Smithville man and woman were cited for cruelty to animals on April 1.
Jessica Yvonne Lane, 24, and Lonnie “JB” Brown, 29, were cited for cruelty to animals.
A city police officer, dispatched to a residence on West Main Street  to investigate reports of two dogs being starved to death, allegedly found one dog chained to a stake in the back yard.
It appeared the animal had been dead for at least a day.
Another dog chained behind the home was in need of medical attention, police said.
There was reportedly no food available to the dogs at the time of the incident.
Lane and Brown will appear in General Sessions Court on April 25.
Meanwhile, Michael Lynn Vance, 44, was arrested for domestic assault on April 4.
According to the warrant, Detective Brandon Donnell responded to reports of a fight in progress on Andrew Street where one of the combatants was said to be armed with a knife.
When the detective arrived, he allegedly found Vance and a family member in a field engaged in a fight.
When Vance was ordered to the ground, the officer allegedly saw him drop a knife.
It was determined that Vance was the primary aggressor, and the other party had suffered a cut on his hand and a small cut on his upper lip.
Vance’s bond was set at $2,500.
Jamaal Ahmad League, 26, was arrested for public intoxication on April 7.
The warrant states that Officer Stephen Barrett was dispatched to Delta to check out reports that League was in the store swearing at customers and asking for money.
 Upon arrival, the officer found League to have a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person and to be unsteady on his feet.
League had reportedly been asked several times to leave the store.
He was placed under arrest, and his bond was set at $2000.
Rickey Lee Tisdale, 36, was arrested for aggravated assault, simple assault and simple possession on April 16.
Police said Tisdale threw a family member onto a couch and strangled her, then  when she went into a bedroom to call 911 he broke the phone and strangled her again, leaving marks on her throat.
A neighbor went in to check on the victim and Tisdale grabbed the neighbor and He also reportedly threw a neighbor who came to check on the victim onto the bed leaving bruise marks on her arms.
Authorities said that Tisdale was asked to sit in a chair, and a metal pill container containing eleven pills believed to be Xanax fell out of his pocket onto the floor.
His bond was set at $10,000.00.
Terika Diana Faux, 35, was cited for shoplifting at Dollar General Store on April 11.
Faux was was allegedly observed by store management concealing items in her purse.
She will appear in court on April 25.
Ignacia Hernandez, 38, was arrested for his third offense of driving on a suspended license and cited for violation of the vehicle registration law and failure to maintain his lane of travel.
Hernandez was allegedly was stopped for failure to maintain lane of travel and told the officer he didn't have a license.
A computer check reportedly revealed his license was suspended for driving on prior suspended license in Macon County.
A check of the vehicle tag came back to a different vehicle.
His bond was set at $5000.00 , and he will appear in court on May 9.
