While a Wednesday night collision with a porch on Short Mountain Highway apparently didn’t result an any serious injuries, it did result in a DUI charge. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 39-year-old Franklin Rigsby was the driver of a Ford Explorer that left the roadway and caused damage to two other properties before striking the porch of Herbert Rose's home at 9126 Short Mountain Highway. The impact knocked the porch of Rose’s home off its foundation. The THP told the Review that Rigsby was charged with driving under the influence and issued a citation for failure to maintain his lane of travel in connection with the incident. Rigsby was reportedly traveling south near Tabernacle Road when he failed to negotiate a curve and left the highway on the right side. He then passed through a fence and gate on one property, the front yard of another, and damaged a well house and lawn furniture. He then crashed through a fence and a stand of grape vines on Rose’s property before hitting a yard swing, which was carried along with the SUV to the porch, where the ride ended.
