Candidate petitions for the August 3 Liberty City Election are now available, according to the DeKalb County Election Commission office. Qualifying deadline is May 18.

A Mayor and two Aldermen are scheduled to be elected.

The Mayor’s post is currently held by Dwight Mathis. Alderman up for office are the positions currently held by Harold Reynolds, Jr. and J.D. Bratten.

Bratten was elected just last year to fill the remainder of an unexpired term. That slot and the others on this year’s ballot will be for a four-year term.
