The DeKalb County Republican Party's Reagan Day Dinner tomorrow night will feature Governor Bill Haslam as the keynote speaker.
Haslam, former Mayor of Knoxville, is in his first term as governor, having been elected in 2010.
Born and raised in Knoxville, Haslam entered Emory University in 1976, volunteering for the grassroots political campaigns of Howard Baker and Lamar Alexander before graduating with a degree in History.
He ran successfully for Mayor of Knoxville in 2003, was reelected in 2007, and ran for governor in 2010, winning the seat with 65 percent of the vote and taking 90 of 95 counties, securing the largest victory of any non-incumbent gubernatorial candidate in Tennessee history.
Haslam and his wife, Crissy, have three children, a daughter-in-law, two sons-in-law and a grandson. The Haslam’s have been members of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church (EPC) in Knoxville and for nearly 30 years.
Haslam is expected to seek reelection to the governor’s seat this year.
The Reagan Day Dinner will be held Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the county complex. Tickets are $30.00 per person or $250.00 for a table of six. For ticket information email loveboatlovefish@yahoo.com.
