Missouri fugitive caught by Smithville city police

Colby Dean Durst, 28, was arrested by Smithville Police on Feb. 19 and charged with being a fugitive from justice in Missouri, as well as for violation of an order of protection.

 

Police said an officer observed a vehicle at approx 7:09 pm traveling on the roadway with no lights turned on just after 7 p.m. The lawman initiated a traffic stop, and reportedly came into contact with Colby Durst.

 

Central dispatch informed the officer that a National Crime Information Center (NCIC) hit advised that there was an active violation of probation from the state of Missouri against Durst, and authorities there requested extradition of the subject back to the state of Missouri to appear before the court.

 

NCIC allegedly advised there was an active order of protection between him and the passenger (victim of the order of protection) of the vehicle from the state of Missouri as well.

 

His bond was set at $51,500, and he will appeared in court on March 3.

 

Amy Jeanette Lawson, 38, was cited on Feb. 20 for theft of property.

 

Police said a purse was taken from a vehicle parked at Curtis Builders Supply Saturday night while the victim was inside the Smithville Auction House. An investigation revealed that Lawson had been at the auction, and had possibly taken the purse.

 

Officers went to Lawson's residence and allegedly saw the stolen purse lying in the living room floor when another resident answered the door. The purse had been emptied of its contents and they could not be found.

 

She will appear in court on April 14.

 

Shawn Keith Buck, 34, was arrested on Feb. 22 for aggravated assault.

 

Police were called to a residence where Buck allegedly choked a victim, leaving a mark on the victim's neck on Feb. 19. Buck had reportedly left the scene before the police arrived.

 

Upon questioning witnesses, it was determined that Buck caused the mark by choking the victim, and a warrant for his arrest was issued. Buck reportedly turned himself in on Feb. 22.

 

His bond was set at $100,000, and he will appear in court on Aug. 8.

 

Brandy Nicole Daniel, 31, was arrested for domestic assault on Feb. 23.

 

Officers responded to a residence in reference to a physical domestic in progress. An investigation determined that Daniel and the victim were in an argument, and Daniel became aggressive and began pushing the victim in the back bedroom in an attempt to trap her.

 

The victim, in fear of her safety, reportedly sprayed Daniel with pepper spray to stop her from attacking her. Daniel was determined to be the primary aggressor and arrested for domestic assault.

 

Her bond was set at $5,000, and she will appear in court on March 24.

 

Police cited Corey Wade Thomas, 33, for simple possession of Schedule II and IV drugs on Feb. 23.

 

An officer reportedly picked Thomas up for warrants from McMinnville. During a search of his person, a round, blue pill believed to a Diazepam and a small amount of a white substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine was allegedly found.

 

He will appear in court on March 17.

 

City police arrested James Dylan Matthews, 21, for theft of property on Feb. 25.

 

According to police, a report was taken because a gun was taken from a victim's vehicle without permission on May 5, 2015. Upon investigation, it was determined that Matthews had taken the gun, and warrants were issued for theft of property and burglary. Police located Matthews at a residence on East Bryant Street on Feb. 25, and arrested him on the active warrants.

 

His bond was set at $5000.

 

Brandon Corey Herndon, 28, was arrested on Feb. 28 for public intoxication.

 

Police were called to a residence to check out reports that Herndon was stating that he was wanted and talking out of his head. An investigation allegedly determined that Herndon had taken some methamphetamine the night before, and because of the state he was in, the officer felt he was a danger to himself and the public at large.

 

His bond was set at $1500, and he will appear in court on March 31.

 

Bradley Dewayne Taylor, 30, was cited for simple possession on Feb. 28.

 

While investigating an intoxicated driver complaint, police made contact with Taylor, who was the driver of the vehicle in question. When Taylor opened the car door, police allegedly saw a baggie containing what they believed to be marijuana in plain view. Found in the baggie was approximately two grams.

 

He will appear in court on March 31.

 

Rikkie Ankerso Patterson, 42, was arrested for DUI and cited for implied consent on Feb. 28.

 

Police observed a vehicle traveling east on West Broad Street, swerving in and out of lanes of traffic in an unsafe manner. The officer performed a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Rikkie Patterson.

 

Upon Patterson exiting her vehicle, the officer could allegedly smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her person, and her speech was slurred. Patterson reportedly refused to perform field sobriety tasks, and refused to submit to a blood alcohol chemical test. Upon investigation, Patterson was determined to be under the influence of intoxicants and placed under arrest for DUI.

 

Her bond was set at $1500, and she will appear in court on March 10.

 

Mary Carolyn Miller, 64, was arrested for aggravated assault and Jason Allen Bates 40 was arrested for domestic assault on Feb. 29.

 

According to the warrant, officers responded to a domestic assault in progress and determined that the victim had been in an argument with Mary Miller and Jason Bates. It appeared that Miller grabbed a metal Febreze bottle and began striking the victim in the face with the bottle, then Bates started punching the victim in the face.

 

The victim had several lacerations and was bleeding all over her face and neck.

 

Bond was set at $2500 each, and both will appear in court on March 10

 

Randi R. Atnip, 28, was arrested for fraudulent use of a credit/debit card on Feb. 29.

 

Police said the victim filed a report on Feb 12 when she believed she had lost her credit card at Wal-Mart. The card was soon used to make unauthorized purchases from Wal-Mart, and an investigation allegedly revealed that Atnip could be seen on Wal-Mart surveillance video using the card to purchase a cell phone and minutes.

 

His bond was set at $5000.00.

 

Kayla Nicole Adams, 25, was recently arrested for vandalism and driving on revoked license.

 

Police responded to a report that a vehicle had gone through Green Brook Park area, damaging wood posts and the grass. On the way to the call, officers reportedly made contact with the described vehicle traveling north on College Street.

 

The vehicle was stopped, and officers made contact with Adams who allegedly told them that she drove through the park looking for someone. Police said a computer check of her license came back revoked for violation of financial responsibility.

 

Her bond was set at $1500.00, and she will appear in court on March 24.
